Katie Shillingford on Jak & Jil.

Really really want this once my hair grows out. I mean, just think of what a different kind of person this would make me! Faded-hair Chick ain't scared o nuttin. She doesn't think "but what if a face pops up in one of the windows?" when having to get something from downstairs late at night. She doesn't imagine that, when she turns on the light in her bedroom, a dead animal and ransom note are lying on her pillow. She doesn't imagine that when she goes to sleep after accidentally killing a spider, a multitude of his little friends will crawl all over her face, chanting You kiiiillled Timmyyyy.
She can wear the boringest outfit but still feel slightly alive and accomplished because, I mean, her hair is blue and white!
So..maybe none of the first traits would change but I can pretend. Hair, I command you to grow.

i think it looks a little bit... dirty... but i do agree with you on dramatic hair. it's the easiest way to look chic and cool, without putting any effort into an outfit.

I don't think I've ever seen that (except the Proenza Schouler ones, of course, but I think the last two are more impressive). It's a really stunning style!

ooo ahhh
ombre is pretty sick...and you wouldn't have to worry about roots:)

It's cool to dye your hair a fun color once and while. I dyed two strips of my hair teal and I love it!

You know what I love about this hair? When you get older you don't have to bleach it ;)
It just grows out like that.

Lovely photos! I really like The Selby one.

reminds me of that scene in bride wars when kate hudson's hair is blue, but she still looks beautiful. anyway, i'm not the biggest fan of the colored hair thing but i think it would look cute on you and experimenting is always fun!

oooh what color are you thinking of?

I like the ombre faded hair when it's with natural colors, but I'm not sure about when it's colors like purple or pink etc. I do like pastel colored hair when it's all one solid color though. Pastel pink, purple, or periwinkle are lovely. You should just do whatever you want with your hair though, being young is the best time to experiment and try different things.

and I thought I was over ombre!

Use Beyond the Zone Hair Jamz. It sounds like a ridiculous product, but we have about the same hair color, and I've used it before with good results. It only hangs around for a bout a week to a week and a half, thus making it possible to frequently change colors as well. Plus, it's cheap.

trust me, crazy coloured hair is a great novelty, but after a week or two you'll be going back to the drug store/salon to by colour stripper to get it out. and colour stripper destroys your hair....

I really like the woman with pink hair. I had neon pink/red hair that has faded to a terrible orange color and all it does is make me look homeless.

Oh man, you're so lucky to be blonde. I would've dyed my hair blue already if my hair wasnt so darn and un-dyeable.

I can't imagine anyone with ombre hair but I love that style. it would be interesting if I got ombre hair...especially because I have naturally dark hair...

i started coloring my hair unnatural colors when i was your age.
dude.
i imagine it'll make you a little more punk rock... but i also imagine you'll wear it well. what are you waiting for? why wait till your hair grows out? you could to a temporary-wash-it-all-out-the-next-day deal.

as a side note, i know changing your hair color doesn't ACTUALLY make you an entirely different person, but i always feel a little... mysteriously different when i change my hair. just a little.
:)
i'm glad i stumbled across your blog. keep on keepin on.

Nah I think I'm still going to do it!! White and blue I think.

maison chaplin-The fact that I'm not tall enough is good..I'm still young and can experiment! I think the "Comme des Garcons girl" doesn't really care about what is necessarily flattering..also,

Egads, you are making me want this soooo badly. I, too, am anxiously and impatiently waiting for my hair to grow and it's going to take a long-ass time. I'm thinking of getting a different wig for each day until my hair can look like this.

you would look AMAZING with hair like katie shillingford -- short, uneven edges!!

Wowzah, pretty awesome. Reminds me of this cheapy colour hair streak applier that me and my friend used to play with in the 90s and the 90s poptastics in general. Obviously, in a totally reinvented good way. Like classy-trashy.
May I just say, even though you've heard it all before Tavi, you are pretty amazing. Like, your delight in National Geographic, mentioning Ryan McGinley's MoonMilk, a love of Bob Dylan, the space pictures. Serious 'woah'.
Sheeeesh.
Lots of Love

Go for it, go for it...Gooooooooooo Tavi~!!! I vote for blue or red or purple or gre---no..not green, it fades horribly. ANYWAY... As someone who use to dye their hair until it....kind of dried up... I recommend the dying of the hair. Just make sure you take care of it so the color stays in long and your hair doesn't hate you.

ALSO! For growing your hair out faster...I've noticed taking multi-vitamins daily and in-taking lots of calcium really helps! :] I'm trying to grow mine out so I can cut it up into a funky style. I just recently died it black again---because I like black hair. D:

^~^ Hope I could be of some help!

Tavi, you are like a breath of fresh air. Don't worry about feeling dorky now...your day will come and you will leave the others standing on the sidelines!! I can you see a bright future for you. It sounds like you have lovely supportive Parents....that makes a huge difference.
Profitez de votre jeunesse, ma chère

Haha, I think the first one is my favourite..although I can't go past the pink.
I think it'd look so effective on long hair, mmm.
And that spider thing has really creeped me out now, I never considered the consequences of killing one, eeep.

love this ombre hair look. this is exactly what happened to my cousin's "my little pony" when she tried to bleach its mane.

can i convince one of my friends to bleach & dye their hair this way so i can photograph them for one of my shoots?...maybe...oh yeah

btw, tavi i think you can totally pull this off...it's very young & girly, I say go for it : )

there's something more sophisticated about the softer shades though.
