School has been blah. More specifically, school people. Luckily, I have a new strategy in dealing with people who think knowing everything about nothing and talking about it all the time makes them Jesus: I imagine myself throwing an atomic apple at them then stomping on them in Rodarte and a crown a la Where The Wild Things Are.I would of course take full advantage of the fact that those Louboutins have spikes. Very, very sharp spikes.
In better news, my mom gave me a pink top that was hers in the eighties. A friend let me steal her cropped denim vest with hearts sewn on that she wore when she was, like, 5? Perfect for more Topshop Unique adaptations. Also, some pirate costumes in Peter Pan greatly remind me of the CDG/H&M line. That's a good thing.OH HAI JERRY.
Why yes, yes I do ask people I'm poorly acquainted with if I can have a picture of them to post on the internet without them knowing.
Speaking of CDG, I'm so excited! If I don't manage to get anything, it's good to know Alexander McQueen is doing a Target line. I like Comme Des Garcons more, but McQ will be Target prices, and CDG isn't even at H&M prices. I don't want to completely dismiss the CDG line for good ole Lee, because the Target line doesn't come out until March and, though I have high hopes for it, there is the teensy weensy possibility that it might kind of....suck. I'm sorry, but we all know it could happen, and I felt the prescense of a seahorse in the room. I know the expression is pink elephant, but I happen to have had the wonderful experience of being in the same room as a pink elephant, and it is very pleasurable and not at all awkward or uncomfortable or unlikely.
Oh how bright Target's future looks! What's next? Vivienne? Gareth? A CHEAPER REI?!?!?!?
No. Rei's above that. Oh god, how demode of me to even consider it.

Haha! I love the pirate/H&M comparison... awesome!
the comparisons were good, I am also excited about the Alexander Mcqueen for target line, wouldn't be cool, if Luella did it again?
I adore Alexander McQueen, but I am being a pessimist about his Target line because that way if it does suck (which it very well might - I don't expect his "vision" to mesh with Target's) I won't be disappointed.
I really wish Comme des Garcons was coming to my area. You must get pictues and give it a home so I cna live vicariously through you. that sounded really creepy. I don't like school people either
holy crap! I'm going to stalk the Salvation Army by my house where the Target dumps it's original SAMPLE clothes until I find the day when they drop off the McQueens!! Thanks for the tip!
well, luella's done one, proenza and schouler's done one, erin fetherston's done one...
I would so love Marc to do one. that would be awesome possum.
youre so hilarious. I had a pretty lame day and you totally just made it,
school people have been blah for me too. but fuck school people. they just don't realize the magnitude of our AWESOMENESS. hope it gets better for you! :]
Alexander McQueen is doing a line for Target? Ah! I'm definitely going to have to check that out. Alexander McQueen is beyond amazing....I think I may like him better than Comme Des Garcons, even.
you read my mind, dahhlinggg.
You slay me!
I am super excited for the McQ line because at least by March the Target near my house will be open and so I can go and stalk all the McQ pieces and buy them up since the people who live by me have only been acquainted with the ripoff McQueen skull scarves sold by Charlotte Russe and besides that have no idea who he is. Yay!
i know! can't wait for another genius designer to collaborate with target
I am excited for McQ but cautious as well. At least I know that the prices wont be insane (COUGH REI AHEM.) Plus I like Alexander the best (sorry Rei.)
By the way, the second comparison is beast. ARE MOMS DESIGNING THESE COSTUMES or secretly fashionable dwarves?
I am so excited. I really do hope it's more Alexander McQueen than Target... but the chances of that happening... Ah, I'll still love it.
Ana-Psh, no. We rented them xD
So so so so so excited for the McQ Target line! I have always been a huge fan of the Go International stuff =]
Hazel, that is just brilliant! Marc should totally do a H&M line or something.
Hilarious post Tavi;D
i'm quite excited about alexander MQ for target, i only hope its decent. but because i live so far from any targets, see, that i always worry that it will sell out before i get over there. but then again, as my mum reminded me, "i doubt anybody around here knows who Jonathan Saunders is". true. clearwater beach isnt exactly known for its fashion.
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN IS DOING TARGET? HOW COME I WAS NOT INFORMED OF THIS????????????
don't really think i'll be picking up any pirate pieces any time soon...
Hey tavi I love your blog , you have inspired me to start my own blog not very good but hopefully will get better at
www.lilydressedthedrones.blogspot.com
Thanks
i love the coral top!
Awww, i love how you take inspiration from costumes. I love them too. And McQueen better make us a winner!
Good thing the McQueen line is not part of Go Collection, but of a new 'Design Collaboration', which is for established designers rather than emerging designers.
Read this recently:
"McQ Alexander McQueen for Target will feature lightweight sweaters, skinny jeans, bubble dresses, slim skirts and cuffed shorts. Signature pieces include a coated cotton poplin black trench, a rock ’n’ roll gray denim cropped studded jacket, a men’s wear-inspired tuxedo blazer and a color-blocked one-shoulder dress with bubble hem. The collection also will include swimwear and cotton voile print scarves. Price points were not yet available.
The collection has a muted color palette of black, white, gray and tan with accents of cobalt blue and bright pink. Studs and mesh give items an edge. For example, a chambray sleeveless shirtdress has stud detailing, there’s a mesh wrap dress and an open yarn zipper cardigan. Graphic prints and silk-screen photographs give tunics, dresses and T-shirts visual interest. The Leila silk-screen T-shirt with a necklace collar was designed for The Duke Spirit lead singer, while other band members are immortalized on a sleeveless jersey T-shirt.
A sateen strapless pleat dress in a tattoo print of mermaids, dice and anchors is an example of McQueen’s penchant for pairing feminine fabrics with tough details — in this case, a studded leather belt. "
Hopefully it turns out great and affordable! But, I have a feeling it won't be very inexpensive. I have visions of 80 dollar jeans and 150 dollar sweaters, which may be cheap for him, but not i!
Hopefully future design collaborations include stella mccartney or phillip lim!
by the way, i'm an avid stalker of this blog (:
THANK YOU LAUREN!!! God that helps a lot. I want that studded jacket and bubble dress so hard and I haven't even seen pictures. Mmmmm.
Your blog is really nice ! And you're so cute !
